Elvis adored his little girl. He spoiled her with everything. Horses, toys, fur coats, to say the least. To everyone, she was said to be known as "The Kings
Little Princess". Although, it wasn't all riches and glamour for little Lisa Marie. Elvis was away a lot of the time and it was becoming very hard for her
to handle. She would always ask Priscilla, "Where's daddy? Where's daddy, Mommy?" Priscilla would have to try to calm Lisa Marie down and tell her that Daddy
has a lot of work to do.
On August 16, 1977; a very emotional day in rock n' roll history, Lisa Marie was visiting her father at Graceland. Elvis had played racquetball in his court are at
Graceland and stayed up late singing with his friends as usual. Lisa Marie had been up for a while when Ginger, Elvis' girlfriend made a frantic call downstairs for help.
She had found Elvis lifeless in the bathroom. Many of the guys ran upstairs to help, but it was too late. Lisa saw the commotion and tried to get into the bathroom.
They locked her out, she ran to the other door, where she was locked out again. The ambulance arrived, and she saw her dad taken out on a stretcher. Lisa was left behind
at Graceland waiting for word on what was happening with her father.
Following the death of her father, Lisa Marie went to camp for a while and when she returned, it wasn't very easy. Her school-work began to suffer, she wasn't keeping
up with her chores and she was just becoming distant from everyone but her mother. It was obvious she missed her father very much. He was a big part of her
life and she was the same to Elvis.
The decade that followed after the death of her father, showed an aggressive young lady that lacked direction and discipline. Lisa Marie meddled in drugs during
her teenage years while listening to Devo and The Sex Pistols. At age 18, she left drugs behind and began following Scientology. During this time, Lisa Marie began
writing songs, but the process proved nerve-racking. Lisa Marie was aware of the pressures of being Elvis Presley's daughter, so she didn't exactly pursue songwriting
that seriously. She had something else in mind; she married her longtime boyfriend, Danny Keough, in 1988. The six-year marriage produced two children, Danielle and Ben.
Motherhood grounded her, but not entirely--Lisa Marie was a rebel at heart and the tabloids loved it.
In 1994, rumors circulated that she and Michael Jackson had tied the knot in the Dominican Republic. The union was initially denied in May, but the world couldn't
believe their eyes when Lisa Marie and the King of Pop appeared on the annual MTV Music Awards four months later. The two locked lips to the crowd's surprise and
those watching at home were equally a gasp.
Between television appearances and media scrutiny, Lisa Marie had enough of Michael Jackson and divorced him in 1997. She was mentally and physically exhausted. Lisa Marie Presley has made a very good, successful mark in her life with music and it soothed her once more and she got a chance in meeting with producer Glen Ballard, whome motivated Lisa Marie to give the music thing another try. Ballard was impressed with her dark, luckless melodies and made her a deal with Capitol Records. Her debut album was slated for a 2000 release, but Ballard didn't stick around to the final product. The next year, Lisa Marie started dating actor Nicolas Cage; the couple married in the summer of 2002 despite it being a rough relationship from the start. Sadly, Cage and Lisa Marie's wedded bliss fell short three months later when the pair split for good. Lisa Marie might have been down, but she wasn't out. Lisa Marie Presley bravely made her musical debut in spring 2003 with the release of "To Whom It May Concern". Deeply personal, edgy and furious, "To Whom It May Concern" showed a side of Lisa Marie that was both smart and witty. She wasn't interested in living up to her Father's legacy in the eyes of others because she was comfortable with her own. "To Whom It May Concern" sold 140,000 copies during its first week of release in April. It was also one of the year's highest debuts with its #5 position on Billboard. Daddy's little girl is becoming a star! There will probably be a lot more to come for "The Kings Little Princess"!
